Bimeda equibactin oral paste for horses is an antibiotic used in the treatment of bacterial infections in horses such as respiratory tract infections; Gastrointestinal infections associated with E. coli; Urogenital infections and wound infections with certain infectious agents.
Bimeda equibactin oral paste comes in a single or five-pack syringe pack, each holding a 45g paste measure for easy dosing.
How does Bimeda Equibactin Oral Paste for Horses work?
One of the active ingredients in Bimeda Equibactin Oral Paste for Horses is sulfadiazine, which works by preventing bacteria from producing folate. Without the presence of this folate, the bacteria cannot go on to produce vital DNA, and so are unable to increase. This in turn halts the spread of infection and the bacteria left behind is destroyed by the immune system or they die.
The other active ingredient is trimethoprim which works to kill bacteria by stopping them making folic acid, which the bacteria needs to survive.
